In CROATIA: I was in liver transplantation. I spent 42 days in hospital. I paid 0, nothing. Account was around 100,000 dollars, but all expenses paid the basic and supplementary insurance. I am unemployed, and I have free basic insurance. I pay only supplementary insurance around 12 dollars monthly. We really welfare state and I so happy to live here.
I don't understand why people from United States don't rebel against this medical mafia?? For this kind of robbery (or rather attack on people's lives) in any normal country you would see people on the streets throwing rocks at their parliament. In Europe this kind of behavior would cause riots on the streets until the prices are lowered to normal level.
It's the price of "extreme freedom" and its by-product "free market": every service giver can decide cost of the service and every customer can decide if they want that service. So health in US is only a merchandise, no different from non-luxury food (basic needs) or luxury (like jewelry). Lets admit the fast: humanity is not mature enough for that much responsibility and US is clearly example of that. So humans still needs rules and therefor organized systems of rule for protection of greedy and corrupted individuals, i.e "capitalists"
@sefl: EDIT Lets admit the faCt: humanity is not mature enough for that much responsibility and US is clearly example of that. So humans still needs rules and therefor organized systems of rule for protection FROM greedy and corrupted individuals, i.e "capitalists"
Also In Romania everything is free, BUT the doctors are not treating you if you don't bribe them. Also you need to bring your own meds because the hospitals supply is always empty. This being said it seems that the USA system is better because it seems to work.
How is it a bad thing to pay higher taxes if it means practically free health care in the long run? I take huge pride in the swedish medical system, it definitely ranks top 10 in the world and considering the costs it COULD mean by judging of the bills in this article, I'd never hesitate to pay twice as much or even four times the money. High taxes comes back to you in the end, that's the whole purpose of them.
If "You Cannot Afford to Be Sick in America" then why do Americans hate 'Obamacare'? Is it because they are a bunch of backward racist fools that automatically hate anything a black person gives them - even if they desperately need it?
Lol.... I would rather be paying higher taxes than end up with a bill for 2 mill:-) One of the most advanced countries in the world.......and they don't have health care for their own residents?????? Lol:-)
Ian Miller, it's because our health premiums are going up, our services are going down, our taxes are going up, the amount of doctors is going down. Has nothing to do with backward racist fools. All you a-holes rippign the us for our medical system, should be grateful for it. Most mediacl advances come from this country because it's profitable for companies. No profit, no advances.
@Anonymous US guy up: all those "advances" come at very high price, while greatest of all advances were given also to US for free where then it was been commercialized. Also, your "health system" discourages cheap way of healing like drugs in form of free-to-grow medical plants or advanced anti-bacterial treatments with "phage viruses" which has been advanced in soviet Russia but died due high cost of treating patients that way (even if it is far more effective and health friendly than antibiotics that US pharma pushes like "holy grail")
Ppl must understand why hospitals, school and banks must not been in private hands. It's too important things for one country and people. Why americans don't want "Obamacare"? Well... they think that's a comunism stuff. Socialism!! Brrr... poor stupid nation is constantly bombarded with anticomunism and antisocialism propaganda for a past 50 yrs. Every day. They think that social care for everyone is direct way to Comunism. They just don't understand. poor ppl. Problem is that my country (and not only my) going in same way like America. Thats mean ... alot of money, and anything else.
